Setting the Bar - Monday the 9th of May, 2011

Having not run on the the weekend, I was ready for a challenge Monday lunchtime.

At 29oC and 60-90%RH it was tough conditions, but I decided to push hard out along the "Choi Hung" road route to Good Hope School and back, with the goal of setting a new PB for the course.

Bright conditions meant that I could either only have the sky of foreground properly exposed. Awesome clouds meant it wasn't too hard a decision.

This huge caterpillar was slowly making his way across the footpath, as I pushed up the hill. I got a few snaps and kept moving

A beautifully clear day by HK standards, every day like this makes me feel like I'm missing out if I'm not on the trails

Another creepy-crawly on the footpath, this one having significantly less natural predation defences than the last (and not camouflaged against the concrete very well)!

Not too many photos from this run since I was trying to set a good time. Things didn't really go perfect, on the return trip I was running low on juice, barely crawled up the last serious hill and didn't have enough in the tank to push hard down the hill back towards UST. Certainly the conditions made it a lot harder than it needed to be, and this was only the second time that I've ran this course (although I've ran similar courses *a lot*)... but overall I was happy with the time, taking about 6mins off my previous effort.

See you out in the hills,
~ Joe
